CPPAANB

Redesign of the website of the Provincial Council for People of African Descent of New Brunswick

Two WordPress sites, one per language, replaced by a single bilingual site, new and original, that the Council's team updates itself.

View the site

The starting point

Until October 2026, the Council had two WordPress sites, one in French and one in English, on shared hosting.

Two sites for two languages

Every news item was published twice, and the two versions drifted apart: the French homepage showed articles in English.

Heavy to maintain

Over twenty plugins per site to keep up to date (page builder, slider, security, cache), for a homepage that had stopped moving: the 2015-2024 Decade logo and “recent articles” from 2023.

A bare-bones membership form

Four fields (first name, last name, email, motivation), without the membership categories set out in the Council's bylaws.

One bilingual site, run by the Council

A new site designed for the Council, and a simple admin to keep it alive without a developer.

Public site

Bilingual from end to end

Every page in French and English, with a direct switch between the two; an original design that reads well on a phone or a computer.

Admin

The Council publishes itself

News, events, team, pages and settings are edited in the admin, in French or English, and appear right away, with no redeployment.

Continuity

Nothing lost

Posts from both old sites carried over, old addresses redirected to their new page, and the Council's email moved to Google Workspace for Nonprofits.

In production, and still evolving.

The site has been live at cppaanb.ca since October 28, 2026. We host it, maintain it and keep improving it.

Full membership form

The form follows the bylaws: active or associate member, individual application or on behalf of an association, preferred language, areas of involvement. The mailing list is never pre-checked.

Acknowledgment and welcome

Every application gets an acknowledgment in the person's language; an “Accept” button then sends them the welcome email.

Accounts and roles

Each team member is invited by a link valid for 72 hours, with no password sent by email; Administration and Editorial roles, and account suspension.

The countries we represent

A world map of the origins represented on the Council, then the countries by region, in expandable panels.

Team

Each person's email and a short bio, editable in the admin, in French and English.

Cookie-free statistics

Traffic is measured without cookies, and the privacy policy explains how.
